Laughing Monk
Belgian-American Pale Ale
Christmas 2012 release
Let the Brewcrew loose and this is what happens…. We’ve taken the best of our Belgian pale ale recipes and opened the US hop bags – after the hop dust settled in the brewhouse we stood back and Laughing Monk was the outcome!
The combination of a US style IPA and a Belgian yeast in one glass has become a popular theme in the US and we can see why. The typical clove, fruity/estery Belgian aromas are joined by spicy, grassy hop notes from the dry hopping. Assertive bitterness expected from an IPA certainly drives the clean finish but there’s something else going on that is hard to nail down and that’s the allure of this beer.
Experimentation has always been the whole drive behind our Brewer’s Reserve range. We just had to release this for Christmas - it pushes the envelope on beer styles as we have come to know them and is something special for the festive season. At 7.0% abv it’s not a beer to be ‘xmas trifled’ with, so after the Xmas presents have been opened and the kids and “Rellies” have opted for bed, strap yourself in and enjoy our yuletide offering.
Have a happy and enjoyable Christmas and New Year from the crew here at Emerson’s.
