New series of Brewer's Reserves - 29th Oct 2010

Flying Nun Amber Wit

October Brewer’s Reserve

Most of us who live here in Dunedin think the place is pretty special. Apart from great beer (well we think so) it’s also the home of some great kiwi music. Music that was set apart from others by the Indie music label Flying Nun. We are dedicating our Summer Beer series to Roger Shepherd, the Flying Nun label and Dunedin music. Each beer will be a unique beer in its own right, and like Flying Nun; independent, no style guideline, no compromise.

Flying Nun Amber Wit is loosely based on the Belgian Witbier style, unfiltered and slightly spicy. Wheat forms the base of this amber spring ale, with a dash of Belgian Biscuit and Amber malts to add a touch of toasty character, well, its not quite Summer here yet… Coriander and a Belgian yeast provide a complex aroma and flavour to what is usually a simple and straightforward style.

At a warming 6% alc. Flying Nun will fend off the cooler evenings in the Octagon as the sun sneaks down behind Swampy and Flagstaff. Fear not, beer friend, wherever you are this witbier only breaks the rules nice and gently so enjoy it! Like the Dunedin sun though, Flying Nun is here for only so long…..the next brew, Rolling Moon Wheat is in the fermenter and we can hear its Weissbier yeast working…

Here’s to Summers in Dunners and great beer wherever you are!
